My name is Christine Higgins and I’d love to help you achieve your academic goals in math and beyond. I love math - always have! And I absolutely get it if you think that makes me a little crazy. Working together, I’d like to show you or your student how we can breakdown the math concepts, set achievable goals, and reinforce lifelong study habits. Math isn’t everybodys “thing” is that is perfectly fine! (my thing is not science or French!) - so my approach is personal and tailored to each student’s personality and strengths. My 1-on-1 tutoring is built on getting to know each student and building a relationship that goes beyond one concept or one test.

We will use a web-based whiteboard software so that we can view problems and work together on solutions. As a tutor, I expect my students to do a lot of the "work" of the math problems. That is, they need to use their pencil and paper, either literal or virtual, to do the work with my help, guidance and support. A touchscreen laptop or tablet with a stylus is helpful for this purpose, to be able to write and draw with greater precision. However, we can make modifications to make tutoring work without these tools as well. At minimum, we would need a computer with internet access and either a microphone or phone for audio communication.

In our session, the student will have the opportunity to present assignments (homework, tests, quizzes, etc) that they are struggling with and I will guide them through steps and strategies in an engaging and organized way. The student will be able to access notes from our session for review and follow-up with email questions.
